Electricity consumers in Kaduna State have staged a peaceful protest at the headquarters of the Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO) in order to express their dissatisfaction over the absence of stable power supply.

The protest was organized by a group, which is referred to as the Coalition of Electricity Consumers (CEC). The group comprises of members of consumer associations like the Welders Association Students Union (WASU), the National Youth Council (NYC), the Printers Association (PA), as well as the residents of Sabon Gari new extension and other communities.

According to the protesters, business activities have been severely affected by the lack of reliable power supply, which has further led to the collapse of several businesses within the area.

Mubarak Abdulganiyu, who spoke on behalf of the protesters, urged the Management of the Disco to improve their services in order to enhance residents’ quality of life.

The Manager of Rigasa Feeder Station, Aliyu Saidu, who briefly engaged with the protesters during the protest, asked them to end the protest and agree to arrange a meeting between the Disco and the community on Wednesday 14th June.
