Valuechain is one of Nigeria’s foremost online Oil & Gas news platform with hard copy publication that circulates within the Nigerian and international oil and gas industry.
We are currently in need of a candidate to fill the position of an editor.
Responsibility :
The Job holder will perform a variety of editorial duties, such as laying out, indexing, and revising content of written materials, in preparation for publication.
The candidate also oversees the publication of the special editions (and pull-out) in the magazine.
Job Description
*Analyze and collect information through various modes such as personal interviews and news briefings to prepare news reports
*Plan Annual editorial content of Valuechain Magazine (Reports, Interviews, Special Report, etc.)
*Develop, through new ideas, ways to enrich the magazine’s content with reference to similar foreign magazine’s
*Responsible for 70% of the monthly content especially Oil & Gas pages.
-Keep a tab on all oil and gas events in the country, and make sure Valuechain is represented.
*Organise at least one physical or virtual event per quarter where burning issues in the Industry will be discussed and addressed.
*Attend assigned local or international oil and gas events.
*Make available content for online news platform on daily basis.
*Engage in advert and special report canvassing/marketing
*Handle any other assignment issued by the editor-in-chief
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree qualification in Mass Communication and related Social Sciences/Humanities field. A master’s degree in cognate area will be an advantage.
Minimum of 8 years’ proven journalism experience with at least 4 years at a middle editorial position. Knowledge of the oil and gas sector is an added advantage.
Experience in the newsroom is required but may not be mandatory in exceptional cases.
Possess strong marketing skills and close relationship with top officials of international and indigenous oil and gas companies, bluechip companies, regulators in the oil sector, service companies among others.
Ideal candidate should be between 30 and 40 years.
Possess knowledge of business, financial, government regulations, executive orders, agency rules, and the business politics.
