Petrocam opens new solar powered fuel station

Petrocam Trading Nigeria Limited has opened a new solar-powered fuel station in Lagos, increasing the number of its retail outlets to 10.

The Managing Director, Petrocam Trading Nigeria, Mr Patrick Ilo, said at the inauguration of the ninth solar-powered station at Itire that the company aimed to have outlets in different parts of the country.

“We are trying to go to the 57 Local Community Development Areas of Lagos. In every local government, you will see Petrocam providing quality service through its one-stop shop for petroleum products such as Liquefied Petroleum Gas, diesel, Premium Motor Spirit, lubricants, and other services. We want to give value in retail distribution as nobody has done before in terms of ambience, aesthetics, credibility, honesty and integrity,” he said.

Ilo stressed the need for the Federal Government to deregulate the downstream sector of the oil and gas sector.

He said, “For the operators to survive, the Federal Government must deregulate the downstream sector. The government has to create a level-playing ground for everybody. This will be to the advantage to all the players in the industry because prices will differ and services will abound.”

The Assistant Administrative Manager, Petrocam Trading Nigeria, Omolara Sunmola, described the company as having the highest number of solar-powered filling stations in the country.

She said, “The beauty of Petrocam is that we like to have our stations built in an environmentally- friendly atmosphere. We currently have the highest number of solar-powered filling stations in Nigeria.

“We have continued to do that in all our outlets because it makes our environment friendly. Nine of our 10 stations are powered by solar. We currently do not have any outlet outside Lagos because we are trying to create a niche for ourselves in the Lagos market, but before the end of the year, we will be expanding to Ibadan and Osogbo.”
