*ValueChain Magazine is a monthly publication on oil & gas, marking its anniversary
Alhaji Aliko Dangote, the President, Dangote Group, as well as the Chairman, South Atlantic Petroleum, T Y Danjuma, are among oil moguls that are billed to be honoured at the 2nd Value-chain Magazine Public Lecture and Awards in Abuja.
Musa Bashir Usman, the Publisher/Editor-in-Chief, Valuechain Magazine, in a statement, said that all was now set for the 2nd Public Lecture and Awards of the publication coming up on July 10, 2019 at Fraser suites, Abuja.
Others expected at the event include the Secretary General of Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), Mohammed Barkindo, the immediate past Minister of State, Petroleum Resources, Emmanuel Ibe Kachikwu, immediate past Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Maikanti Baru, among other prominent players in the nation’s oil and gas industry.
The event, which is organised to commemorate the magazine’s first year anniversary, will have, ‘The Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry in the Last Four Years: Achievements, Gaps and Prospects’, as the theme.
According to Bashir, the choice of the theme was informed by the need by the stakeholders in the oil and gas industry to appraise the progress recorded by this government in its first term of office.
“We believe that the aforementioned theme is an apt topic at this time for a number of reasons.
“Firstly, there is a need to address the issue in the delay in the passage of the Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB), which would serve as a legal framework for the effective management and regulation of the petroleum Industry.
“Secondly, with a new influx of private sector investments into local refining such as Dangote refinery, reducing over-dependence on imported refined petroleum products will become a reality.
“Thirdly, through the Marginal Fields Allocation and Divestment of Exploration and Production (E&P) Assets, a major transition in oil fields discovery is apparent, from purely International Oil Companies to increasingly indigenous participation.”
