Awardee: Alh. Aminu Baba-Kusa Ex-Group Executive Director (GED), Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC)

Aminu Baba-Kusa was the Group Executive Director (GED), Business Development of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), a position he held from February 2011 to June 2012 when he retired from the service.

He also held position of GED Special Services in 2010 and GED Commercial & Investments (C&I) in 2009. Aminu as entrepreneur demonstrated his skill when, as GED, (C&I) he led the expansion program of the NNPC Retail Ltd leading to growth from 37 to 500 outlets within 8 months. He also initiated and drove the NNPC fuel “war room” that resulted in eliminating persistent fuel queues across the nation.

Award

Aminu also made enormous contributions in the Crude Oil Marketing Division of NNPC as a Manager in 1992. He rose to Group General Manager in 2007. In the Division, he anchored and promoted the realization of full value of Nigerian Crude Oil in the International market. He also created an effective data capturing system for Crude Oil sales and receipt which was acknowledged by Nigerian Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI) audit and is still in use.

Aminu worked with Nigeria LNG Ltd, Nigerian Gas Company and Pipelines & Products Marketing Company Ltd (PPMC). He was a member, National Policy Drafting Committee and developed modalities for natural gas distribution. Aminu is a member, UK Institute of Marketing and Nigerian Institute of Management (MNIM).
