The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) has inaugurated the Midstream and Downstream Oil and Gas Industry Service Permit (MDOGISP), a digital application portal, which it has built with the aim of enhancing effective service delivery in the mid and downstream segments of the industry.
The Authority’s General Manager (GM) for Information Communication and Technology, Anne Omezi, disclosed this while speaking at the inauguration of the portal in Abuja on Wednesday.
She said that the portal is strictly for operators who want to provide services in the midstream and downstream segments of the petroleum industry, and that it also aims to boost revenue for NMDPRA.
Omezi added that the portal, which will be effective from March 31st, is aimed at enabling the issuance of valid permits to companies or operators for lawful operations in the oil and gas industry. She added that no company or person would be engaged by any licensee or operator without a valid permit issued by the portal.
The GM, while warning that the licensees and operators were not expected to allow anyone render services to them without possessing a valid permit issued by NMDPRA, further called on Regional Directors and Coordinators to drive the awareness to all stakeholders.
The Executive Director of Distribution Systems, Storage and Retailing Infrastructure at NMDPRA, Mr Ogbugo Ukoha, who also spoke at the inauguration, said that the development was in accordance with the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) 2021.
According to him, the permit will be issued in three categories, namely: General, Major and Specialized Categories.
Ukoha added that the unveiling of the application portal and the six gazetted regulations in the midstream and downstream petroleum industry were highpoints for the authority.
