Nigeria Petroleum Summit DAY 1:

*Welcome Cocktail Reception/Ice Breaker of the Nigeria International Petroleum Summit held Sunday at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja

The Honourable Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Timipre Marlin Sylva in his welcome speech, urged the delegates to see the Conference as an opportunity to properly understand Nigeria’s petroleum and energy environment as it promises to be a greater frontier for Africa’s economy with the abounding opportunities.

He further noted that Nigeria is certainly well-positioned to host an Africa wide event that will enable it, share its built experience in the oil and gas sector. He namechecked the ongoing effort to review the enabling laws guiding the sector while noting that the existing framework is obsolete hence the new direction which he avowed will be a win-win for everyone.

Mike Sangster, the Managing Director and Chief Executive of Total E&P Nigeria Limited (TEPNG) in his goodwill message, reiterated that the partnership and friendship that IOCs share with Nigeria is immense and valuable. He wished all delegates a successful conference.

Bitrus Bako Nabasu mni, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Petroleum Resources, Nigeria in his welcome note, applauded the tenacity and drive that has seen to the great success evidenced in past editions of the Nigeria International Petroleum Summit.

He assured that this edition will achieve every single objective while cementing new partnerships.
