The Nigerian Association of Energy Economics, an affiliate of the International Association of Energy Economics, has begun its 16th annual International conference with the theme, ‘Energy Evolution, Transition and Reform: Prospects for African Economies’ at the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) Tower in Abuja.
The first session of the conference kicked off with various concurrent sessions at about 9:10 am, with research lectures and presentations on various topics like ‘Household Cooking Energy Choice in Bwari Area Council, FCTA Case of Kuchibuyi and Chikakore Communuties’ by Mrs. Adeola Ijeoma Eleri, from the Department of Minerals, Petroleum, Energy Economy and Law at the University of Ibadan, and ‘Towards the Regulation of Green and Blue Hydrogen in Nigeria’ by Eunice Alsa, and Peace Adeleye, from Kenna partners Energy Practice, among others.
Mrs. Eleri, while responding to a question on if her research can be generalized for the whole of Nigeria, stated that although there were gaps in the study, the study targeted an urban area, where people from different parts of the country were represented and about 70 percent of the sample population were of the opinion that Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG) was their preferred and ideal choice.
The three-day annual conference is an international conference where issues bothering the energy sector are discussed bringing policymakers, regulators, and private sector leaders together to discuss Nigeria’s critical energy agenda.

Gbenga Komolafe (Commission Chief Executive, NUPRC), Dr. Omar Farouk Ibrahim, Secretary General, African Petroleum Producers’ Organisation (APPO), Dr. Bello Gasau, Executive Secretary, Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) among others.
