Alhaji Aliko Dangote is excited that the over $20 billion refinery and petrochemical project is sited in Ibeju-Lekki (Lagos), in spite of the enormous challenges it faced during acquisition, construction and take off of production.
He was happy to announce some of the unique benefits Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals enjoy on account of its special location during his Sunday, July 14, 2024 media parley at the complex’s grounds.
Commencing production earlier in the year, the location makes the refinery special.
“It’s in Lekki free trade zone. We have access to the market of petroleum products with Lagos consuming 60 percent, the west another 5 to 10 and the rest of the country consumes the remaining 30 percent.
“We have the logistics advantage relative to import, ready access to west Africa and Latin America…”
