TOKYO 2020: Number of athletes representing Nigeria, their games

The 2020 Tokyo Olympics officially commenced Friday 23rd July 2021, at the new National Stadium in Tokyo, Japan. The event was inaugurated by Emperor Hironomiya Naruhito, the emperor of Japan.

It was the fourth Olympics to be held in Japan and will run from 23rd July until 8th August. It was originally scheduled to take place from 24th July to 9th August 2020, but was postponed due to Covid-19 pandemic, and also held behind closed doors.

Nigerian contingent at the opening ceremony

A total of 206 countries across the world paraded into the arena and were led by their respective flagbearers. Nigeria was the 123rd country to match in, with Nigerian wrestler, Odunayo Adekuoroye, as the flagbearer.

Nigeria had 60 athletes , 24 men and 36 women in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. And these athletes will take part in ten sports.

• Table Tennis 2
