Key players in the oil and gas industry, including governors of Bayelsa, Benue and Delta states are set to brainstorm on Sustainable Development Goals in the Niger Delta, as part of activities marking the Gbaramatu Voice 7th year anniversary.
The programme which will kick off on Tuesday, August 30, 2022, at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja, will also centre on the theme: Oil politics, securing national assets, dependency and diversification.
Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Chief Timipre Sylva, is expected to be the keynote speaker, while Prince Adewole Adebayo, 2023 Social Democratic Party, SDP, Presidential Candidate will Chair the event.
Barr. Kingsley Burutu Otuaro, Deputy Governor of Delta State will unveil the event as Chief Host.
Other dignitaries expected as Guests include, Senator Douye Diri, Executive Governor of Bayelsa State, Dr. Samuel Ortom, Executive Governor of Benue State, and Mallam Mele Kyari, Group Chief Executive Officer, Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited.
Others include Dr Efiong Akwa, Interim Administrator, Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Engr. Simbi Wabote, Executive Secretary, Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), Engr. Gbenga Komolafe, Chief Executive Officer, Nigerian Upstream Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), and Mr Richard Kennedy, Chairman/Managing Director, Chevron Nigeria Limited
Also expected at the lecture/award-giving ceremony include traditional rulers from the Niger Delta, captains of industries within and outside the country, executives of International Oil Companies (IOCs) operating in the country, public office holders from the Niger Delta region, leaders of specialized groups in Nigeria, among others.
The anniversary lecture will centre on critical new research themes such as sustainable development goals in the Niger Delta. Its deliberations will address all spectra of analyses including the oil and gas industry.
The present edition is the 7th in the series and the second to be hosted at the Abuja Transcorp Hilton, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja. The first was in the year 2015.
A terse statement signed by Jacob Abai, Publisher, GbaramotuVoice on Tuesday, noted that the annual lecture has a rich history of promoting national unity, recognizing the good works of various individuals that have positively imprinted their names in various areas of human endeavours while contributing to the life chances of humanity.
