SAIPEC 2025: Paving the Path for Africa’s Energy Future

By Ese Ufuoma
As Africa seeks to secure its place in the global energy landscape, the Sub-Saharan Africa International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (SAIPEC) returns to Lagos from February 11–13, 2025, promising to be its most ambitious edition yet. Hosted by the Petroleum Technology Association of Nigeria (PETAN) at the Eko Convention Centre, this premier event will celebrate a decade of progress and innovation in Africa’s oil and gas industry.

This 9th edition comes at a time when Africa’s energy ambitions are expanding amid global shifts toward sustainability. SAIPEC 2025 offers an unparalleled platform for showcasing multi-billion-dollar project opportunities, fostering partnerships, and addressing challenges facing the region’s oil and gas sector. PETAN, in partnership with the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), NNPC Ltd, and over 30 national oil companies and regulators, promises a three-day event packed with transformative discussions and networking opportunities.

Expected to attract over 6,000 participants from more than 50 countries, SAIPEC 2025 will feature representatives from National Oil Companies, International Oil Companies, government bodies, service providers, and regulators. The international exhibition will highlight cutting-edge innovations in drilling, exploration, and digital technology, drawing exhibitors and attendees eager to engage directly with industry leaders and technology developers driving Africa’s energy future.
SAIPEC has long championed local content as a foundation for Africa’s energy development. This year’s African Content Series, hosted by the NCDMB for the fifth consecutive year, will once again take centre stage. The event will also address critical themes such as African gas strategies, sustainable growth, diversity and inclusion, and innovative financing solutions.

One of the most anticipated features of SAIPEC 2025 is the Future Generation Conference, aimed at inspiring young professionals and equipping them with the tools to lead the continent’s energy revolution. The prestigious SAIPEC Awards will celebrate excellence, innovation, and leadership within the sector.

This year’s conference also marks PETAN’s 30th anniversary, a milestone reflecting three decades of leadership in the oil and gas sector. Speaking about the event, Mr. Ibe Chubby Ibe, PETAN/SAIPEC Conference Chair, remarked, “SAIPEC 2025 stands as a testament to our commitment to driving Africa’s energy transformation, creating sustainable growth, and fostering inclusive partnerships across the continent. This year’s program is our most ambitious yet.”

Networking remains at the heart of SAIPEC. Delegates can look forward to exclusive receptions, panel discussions, and the ever-popular PETAN Golf Day event designed to foster connections and partnerships. Attendees will also gain insights from keynotes delivered by prominent industry leaders, including Mele Kyari, Group Chief Executive Officer of NNPC Ltd.

As Africa navigates the complex dynamics of energy security, sustainability, and affordability, SAIPEC 2025 promises to be more than just a conference, it is a call to action. With a focus on collaboration, innovation, and inclusion, this landmark event is poised to shape the future of Africa’s energy industry.
