Nigerian Tribune reports that the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) management has revealed that sabotage efforts both within and outside the company are actively working to undermine its ongoing anti-corruption and transformation initiatives. Despite these challenges, the leadership remains resolute in pushing forward with reforms aimed at making the corporation more transparent, efficient, and commercially viable.
According to a signed statement by NNPC’s management on Friday, a campaign of misinformation and deliberate obstruction is aimed at derailing the corporation’s corruption-free transformation agenda. However, they affirmed that these sabotage attempts will not stop the reform process, which is critical to unlocking Nigeria’s full oil and gas potential and attracting global investment.
The reforms come amid a broader government strategy to overhaul the energy sector, including splitting NNPCL into autonomous units to improve efficiency and reduce corruption. This restructuring aligns with Nigeria’s ambitious plans to double oil production and expand gas infrastructure, positioning NNPC as a key player in Africa’s energy landscape.
NNPC management has urged stakeholders and the public to support the reform agenda, emphasizing that the corporation’s transformation is vital for national economic growth and energy security. They remain committed to delivering on the presidential mandate to restore investor confidence, boost local content, and advance gas commercialization and diversification.
As Nigeria’s oil giant navigates these internal and external pressures, the message from NNPC is clear: sabotage will not derail the path to a modern, transparent, and efficient energy sector.
