NNPC Board Seeks Public Support for Oil Sector Reform

The newly inaugurated Board of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) has appealed to Nigerians for patience and collaboration as it begins a critical mission to restructure and improve the country’s oil and gas sector.

According to THE NATION Newspapers, the appeal was made on Thursday by the new Non-Executive Chairman, Ahmadu Musa Kida, while addressing journalists at the Presidential Villa shortly after the board’s inauguration by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Kida emphasized that the board’s focus would be on enhancing transparency, fostering accountability, and maintaining integrity within the national oil company. He acknowledged the magnitude of the task ahead, stating that reforms are essential to unlocking the full potential of the sector and restoring public trust.

“Our task is huge, but we are deeply honoured to be among the select few entrusted by the President to reform the oil sector,” Kida stated. “We ask Nigerians to be patient with us and support our efforts as we work to deliver real, sustainable change.”

The board’s inauguration marks a new chapter for NNPC, which has undergone significant restructuring in recent years. The leadership has pledged to align its operations with global best practices and contribute meaningfully to Nigeria’s economic growth.

Kida assured stakeholders of the board’s commitment to responsible governance and long-term progress.
