NLNG Requests Increased Investment In Gas to Support Energy Transition

By Adaobi Rhema Oguejiofor

The Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) Limited, Dr. Philip Mshelbila, has said that a deliberate investment that will unlock the nation’s gas potential will go a long way in tapping opportunities offered by the energy transition.

Mshelbila noted this during the visit of the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Gas, Rt. Hon. Ekperikpe Ekpo, to the NLNG plant on Bonny Island, Rivers State.

The Minister was received by Dr. Mshelbila; the General Manager of Production, Nnamdi Anowi; the General Manager of External Relations and Sustainable Development, Andy Odeh; and other Management staff.

The NLNG Boss, while briefing the Minister on the company’s operations and business,  stressed the need to overcome the challenges within Nigeria’s energy sector.

He stated that failure to address the root causes of the issues would prolong the country’s struggle with energy poverty and result in a significant loss of revenue from the monetization of valuable resources.

Mshelbila further expressed that a pivotal starting point for remedying these industry challenges lies in a concentrated effort on the gas sector.
