The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) has said that the average price of Automotive Gas Oil (AGO), otherwise called diesel, increased by 168.26 percent in February 2023.
This was revealed in the Automotive Gas Oil Price Watch Report for February 2023, which was released by NBS recently.
The report stated that the average retail price paid by consumers for diesel increased by 168.26 percent from a lower cost of N311.98 per litre in February 2022 to a higher cost of N836.91 per litre February 2023.
NBS pointed out that on a month-on-month basis, an increase of 0.98 percent was recorded from the diesel price of N828.82 in January 2023 to an average of N836.91 in February.
Based on the states profile analysis conducted by NBS, the top three states with the highest average price of diesel in February 2023 were Bauchi, Abuja and Adamawa, with the average price of N904.33, N885.00 and N873.33per litre respectively.
The NBS report further noted that the top three states with the lowest average diesel prices were Bayelsa, Edo and Katsina, with the average price of N789.43, N767.14 and N778.75 per litre respectively.
