IPMAN Tells FG to Resume Operations at Enugu Petroleum Depot

The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association (IPMAN) has called on the Federal Government to resume operations at the Enugu Petroleum Depot, which it said has been deserted for about 25 years.

Chinedu Anyaso, IPMAN Chairman, Enugu Depot Community in charge of Anambra, Ebonyi and Enugu States, made this call on Thursday at a press briefing organized by the Enugu Chapter of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN).

The event was staged to talk about the challenges faced by citizens of the country as a result of fuel scarcity and the introduction of new naira notes.

The IPMAN Chairman, who was represented at the occasion by Iloafor Nnaemeka, IPMAN Secretary, Enugu Depot Communit, stated that members of the Association have challenges in lifting fuel for the South East zone as a result of the Enugu Depot closure. Instead, they rely on Port Harcourt, Lagos or Warri to get a supply of petroleum products at high risks and prices.

Nnaemeka said that if the depot reopened, the supply of fuel would be adequate in the area and members of the Association would be able to sell at the pump price approved by the government.

He added that the problem of fuel scarcity was man-made and called on the Federal Government to take steps towards easing the suffering of citizens due to fuel shortages.
