The Independent Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) has announced that it will now purchase petroleum products from the Dangote Petroleum Refinery. This decision comes as the depot price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), also known as petrol, has increased by 4.7% to N950 per litre as reported by Vanguard News.
According to IPMAN’s Public Relations Officer, Mr. Chinedu Ukadike, the association has encouraged its members to buy directly from the Dangote Refinery. Ukadike stated that the minimum quantity to purchase from the refinery is two million litres at a price of N909 per litre. He also mentioned that IPMAN members can purchase petrol from MRS, which distributes Dangote refinery petrol.
IPMAN’s National President, Alhaji Garima, confirmed that the association’s members still purchase petrol from the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) at a price of N899.50 per litre. However, he noted that the portal for purchasing petrol from NNPC is currently closed. Garima emphasized that purchasing petrol directly from Dangote Refinery is the best option for IPMAN members, as it is cheaper.
Garima also mentioned that some IPMAN members still purchase petrol from private depots, but the association has advised them to take advantage of the arrangement with Dangote Refinery. He noted that MRS provides incentives to marketers, such as selling petrol at a lower price of N850 per litre for transportation to distant locations.
The decision to purchase petrol from Dangote Refinery is a result of the Federal Government’s decision to stop subsidizing petrol, which has led to fluctuations in petrol prices. IPMAN has advised its members to collaborate and pool their resources together to purchase petrol directly from Dangote Refinery.
