The House of Representatives ad-hoc committee set up to investigate fuel subsidy regime between 2013 and 2021 is not having smooth running of its assignment after all, Valuechain authoritatively reports.
Chairman of the committee, Hon. Ibrahim Almustapha Aliyu who made the revelation regretted that some major stakeholders in the energy sector recently invited to appear before it, refused to honour the invitation.
The chairman told journalists during the week that one of such non-compliant invitees is Peculiar Energy Service which has, for the second time, refused to honour the committee’s invitation to appear before it.
Hon. Aliyu said “we are not sure whether they have been able to receive our correspondence but I am sure that we have been able to explore all avenues to ensue that all key stakeholders receive the invitation.”
According to him, the committee also sent the invitation to stakeholders through media outfits, adding that it was surprising that Peculiar Energy Service did not respond.
“There are many options available for the committee to compel attendance but we have decided to, yet, extend another invitation to Peculiar Energy Service to appear on the 22nd of September 2022”, the chairman noted.
Hon. Aliyu, however, appreciated that the ad-hoc committee has enjoyed the full cooperation of the Hon. Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila.
He further called on all critical stakeholders to accord the committee their maximum support for it to forge ahead and complete its assignment.
