By Adaobi Rhema Oguejiofor

The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) has said that it plans to work with the Oil Trading and Logistics (OTL) Africa Downstream in order to sanitize and drive Nigeria’s petroleum industry.

The Chief Executive Officer of NMDPRA, Farouk Ahmed, disclosed this during a team visit by the Advisory Board of OTL to his office in Abuja recently.

He said that the government is ready to collaborate and partner in all industry-related matters, as there is need to clean the mess that has been created within the industry over the years.

In his own words, “we align with your ideas on why we need to collaborate and have assured our willingness and interest to work with OTL. We must work together to sanitize the  industry, and to do that, we need a capable, willing and bold regulator to make decisions.”

His words, “We will participate because we want to be part of those driving it so that we can get a better seat. Otherwise, we will be left behind. By that, we will be seen, and our work will be seen and felt. Our suggestions, input, and ideas can also be incorporated from the beginning. So, we welcome that.”

The firm also plans to hold an Oil Trading and Logistics Africa Downstream Conference later in the year.
