By Saidu Abubakar

Chief Donatus Agu-Ejidike, the Nigeria Pillar of Sports, has called on the newly elected executives of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) FCT Chapter to be diligent and proactive in their duties.

Valuechain reports that during a meeting held on Friday in Abuja, Agu-Ejidike expressed his full support for the team led by Kelechi Onwudiwe, emphasizing the importance of steadfastness and proactivity for the growth and integrity of sports journalism.

“I am here to support you continuously as you navigate this important journey. Kelechi Onwudiwe and his team have shown great promise, and I believe they will lead SWAN FCT to greater heights,” Agu-Ejidike stated.

SWAN FCT Chairman, Kelechi Onwudiwe, acknowledged Agu-Ejidike’s support and assured that Abuja-based sports writers would continue to back the Nigeria Pillar of Sports through their journalistic endeavours.

Valuechain further reports that earlier, Chief Agu-Ejidike, along with Onwudiwe, had paid a condolence visit to former international footballer Tijani Babangida at his residence in Abuja.

Babangida, his wife, and their maid recently survived a car crash that tragically claimed the lives of his one-year-old son, Fadil and his brother, Ibrahim Babangida, a 1993 U-17 World Cup winner.

Agu-Ejidike expressed deep sympathies and prayed for the family’s strength during this difficult time.

“We are deeply saddened by your loss, Tijani,” Agu-Ejidike conveyed. “May God give you and your family the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.”

Onwudiwe also conveyed his condolences, expressing solidarity and wishing Babangida a swift recovery during these trying times.
