Direct NNPCL To Remit $34.2bn Or… – Falana Tells Finance Minister

A senior Nigerian Attorney Femi Falana has urged Finance Minister, Olawale Edun to promptly take action by instructing the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL) to transfer a significant sum of $34.2 billion to the Federation Account.

According to Channels TV, in a letter bearing the title “Request To Recover $34.2bn Being Dividend Collected By NNPCL On Behalf Of The Federation,” Falana underscored previous instances, spanning from 2004 to 2021, where NNPCL purportedly received funds from the Nigerian Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) Limited on behalf of the Nigerian government.

His letter which carries a resolute warning stated that unless the Finance Minister ensures the funds’ transfer, he (Falana) is fully prepared to initiate legal proceedings at the Federal High Court to ensure the swift recovery of the $34.2 billion.

This legal demand by Femi Falana emphasizes the urgency of the situation, urging the government to take swift action to ensure that these substantial funds are rightfully remitted to the Federation account.
