The Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, has announced that the N1.2 trillion Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano (AKK) natural gas pipeline project, which is being constructed by the Federal Government through the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited and its partners, is currently about 43 percent complete.
He also revealed that the project would help in generating 3,600 megawatts of electricity, and that the AKK pipeline is a major project of the President Muhammadu Buhari regime.
Osinbajo, who was represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, disclosed this at the opening ceremony of the 6th Nigeria International Energy Summit (NIES) in Abuja on Monday.
Buhari inaugurated the AKK pipeline project in 2020, where it was announced that the Bank of China and Sinosure, a Chinese export and credit insurance corporation, were to fund the facility.
Osinbajo, while speaking on some of the accomplishments of the current government, said that the AKK project was one of the giant steps taken by the government towards the oil and gas sector, and it is about 43 percent complete.
