When Buhari came, our borrowing was N13tn, when he left, it was N87trn, Now we are hitting N200trn — Obi

Peter Obi, a member of the African Democratic Congress ADC and former presidential candidate for the Labour Party LP in the 2023 election, has given his take on the hardships in the Nigerian economy.

Several Nigerians have taken to the streets to express their grievances regarding the hike in the prices of commodities and the rising level of inflation, which was said to have followed the removal of the fuel subsidy by the current government led by Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

However, during an interview with Arise News, the ADC member and ex-presidential candidate, Peter Obi, stated that insecurity has influenced Nigeria a lot, and he vowed to deal with corruption and waste head-on.

He mentioned that when the former president, Muhammadu Buhari was sworn in, Nigeria’s borrowing was N13trillion and when he left it was N87 trillion but now we are hitting N200trillion.

According to the video, “When Buhari came in, our borrowing was N13 trillion; when he left, it was N87 trillion; today we are hitting N200 trillion.”
