Another big blow has hit Nigeria’s Olympics team, as Blessing Okagbare has been suspended with immediate effect after an out-of-competition sample collected from the sprinter tested positive for human Growth Hormone (HGH), a prohibited substance on the 2021 WADA Prohibited List according to the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU).
Okagbare, who ran the first round of the Olympic 100m yesterday Friday 30th July, was due to run the semis tonight, has unfortunately been suspended indefinitely after testing positive for HGH, the test was said to have been taken on July 19.
This terrible news is coming barely 48 hours after 10 Nigerian athletes, were banned from participating in the Olympics, because the testing standard from Nigeria did not meet up with Olympics standard.
Okagbare had stood up for them and called out the administrators in-charge, asking them to step down, if they don’t care so much about the athletes and their welfare.
