The Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) has vowed to resist vested interests seeking to hijack the full implementation of the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA).
President of NUPENG Comrade Williams Akporeha disclosed this yesterday in Abuja at the 5th quadrennial branch delegates conference of NUPENG branch at the erstwhile Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR).
“We must not let down our guard as there are many vested interests that are waiting to hijack the process”
Akporeha, who was represented by the National Auditor, Comrade Thompson Ogbodo, said, “We must not let down our guard as there are many vested interests that are waiting to hijack the process, most especially the execution and implementation of the act to the disadvantage of the working people and the nation in general.
“We will resist any attempt by any authority or agent to undermine the transparent implementation of the act for the good of our industry and the nation at large.”
The Director, Human Resources in the Ministry of Petroleum Resources, Dr Famous Eseduwo, in a goodwill message, noted that efforts towards staff reorganisation are in top gear in line with the PIA provisions.
