Eroton Exploration and Production Company, a major player in the Nigerian upstream oil segment, has said that it remains the operator of Oil Mining Licence (OML) 18 Alakiri Gas Plant and Field Logistics base in the Niger Delta.
The company also stated that media reports of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited taking over the operation of OML 18 were false.
The issue of operatorship of OML 18, Eroton explained, is a contractual one that is governed by the joint operating agreement between participating parties.
The company urged the public and its partners to know that “there are clearly defined processes and procedures that have not been followed in discussing any change of operator under the joint operating agreement.”
It argued that the media made use of false and incorrect information to accuse them of several erroneous offenses.
