The Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited, Mallam Mele Kyari, has said that the Nigeria-Morocco gas pipeline is one of the most ambitious projects the Company has embarked on and it is going to cost over $25 billion, which is equivalent to N11.5 trillion.
Kyari revealed this in an interview with journalists, where he claimed that one of the most outstanding attributes of the project is that it is going to connect 11 West African countries to Nigeria’s gas sources, which will help create prosperity around the country.
According to him, through the project, the nation will be creating peace around itself, as well as developing a market for the huge gas resources that it has. The NNPC Boss, while commenting on where the funds for the project will come from, also expressed that the world is ready to finance it.
He stated that the Company has substantial indications of closure around financing. In his own words, “many financial institutions have come on the table. By the way, the world needs the gas and they will finance it.”
