The Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, has described the discovery and ongoing drilling of crude oil in Obi Local Government Area (LGA) of Nasarawa State as a milestone that will push forward the economic and human development of the Northern part of Nigeria.
The Emir said this during his visit to the Ebenyi Oil well exploration site in Nasarawa. He was led on a tour around the oil site by the Emir of Lafia, Justice Sidi Mohammed Bage, and the Osuko of Obi, Alhaji Aliyu Dangiwa Ogiri Orume.
The Emir of Kano, who stated that he came to Nasarawa on a working visit in order to strengthen the existing relationship between both states, described the State as a peaceful place and expressed satisfaction with the level of work at the drilling site. He added that the development is a historic one in the history of Nasarawa state and the Northern part of Nigeria as a whole.
Alhaji Bayero, however, charged the people of Nasarawa State, particularly those in Obi LGA, to never allow the temptations of disunity and sentiments to enter into them, as it could undermine the process. He urged them to continue to coexist peacefully in order to benefit from the natural wealth.
The Emir of Lafia, on his part, described the visit of his Kano counterpart as a historic one that would help to strengthen the relationship between both states. He also called on the people of Obi and the entire state to continue to accord maximum support to the staff of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) for the actualization of the dream in the state.
