Chevron Nigeria Limited (CNL), one of the largest oil producers in Nigeria and the operator of the Joint Venture (JV) with the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited, has said that it strongly recognizes the importance of minimizing its environmental footprints by promoting ecosystem restoration.
The Company stated that its actions continually aim at achieving world-class environmental excellence through the implementation of its environmental risk management process in order to identify, assess, reduce, and manage environmental risks, as well as environmentally related community health risks, and environment-related social risks.
It has also expressed its commitment to the global action geared towards addressing the impact of plastic pollution and creating an eco-friendly environment, as the world celebrates the 2023 World Environment Day (WED). WED is a global celebration that is observed every June 5th in order to commemorate and promote environmental awareness and sustainability across the world.
The Chairman and Managing Director (MD) of CNL, Rick Kennedy, in a statement, said that the move to address the impact of plastic pollution aligns with its commitment to protecting the environment while also providing affordable, reliable, and ever-cleaner energy.

Kennedy explained that the Company’s approach to sustainability is highlighted by its commitment to protecting the environment, empowering its people, and always getting results the right way. According to him, environmental protection is a key operational excellence focus that is integrated into the Company’s project planning and the life cycle of its assets.
The firm implements a robust process for the management of wastes, including solid wastes like plastics of various densities through reduction, re-use, and recycling options.
