The Capital Markets Authority (CMA) has issued a public statement clarifying the regulatory status of the Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals FZE Initial Public Offering (IPO) following widespread information circulating about the offering.
According to the Authority, while the public offer is regulated under Nigerian jurisdiction, it has not been submitted to the CMA for consideration or approval within the Kenyan legal and regulatory framework.
Consequently, the regulator has urged members of the public to exercise caution regarding any participation or related financial transactions.
In its statement, the CMA advised potential investors to independently verify the authenticity and sources of any prospectus or offering documents prior to making investment decisions, transferring funds, or sharing personal and financial details.
“Members of the public are advised to only rely on official communication from the relevant regulators, issuers, and authorised channels in respect to any public offer,” the statement read.
Furthermore, the regulator emphasized that all investment-related transactions within Kenya should be conducted strictly through licensed capital markets intermediaries.
