A Nigerian man has sparked reactions online after a video of him lamenting the rising cost of fuel went viral on X, formerly known as Twitter.
In the emotional clip, the man complained bitterly about how ₦100,000 worth of fuel could no longer fill his car tank, as he called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to restore fuel subsidy.
The man, who appeared visibly distressed, repeatedly pleaded with the president, popularly called “Jagaban,” saying the current situation was pushing him to the brink.
“₦100,000 Cannot Fill My Tank”
In the video, he said, “100K for fuel. E no go fill my tank. Dear Jagaban, please. Please, bring back subsidy. Tinubu, my life is on verge of scattering because of this fuel.”
He went further to describe the financial pressure he faces weekly due to fuel expenses, revealing that he now spends as much as ₦300,000 in a week.
“Now I’m buying fuel of 100,000. E no dey full my tank. Jagaban, bring back subsidy. We are dying,” he added.
Compares Situation to Drug Addiction
The man also made a striking comparison, claiming his situation felt worse than that of a drug addict due to the constant financial burden.
“I don’t know the difference between me and a drug addict. As at Nigeria today, drug addict is better than me because I’m buying fuel,” he said.
