In a strategic move aimed at bolstering Nigeria’s oil and gas output, the Group Chief Executive Officer of NNPC Limited, Engr. Bashir Bayo Ojulari, hosted top executives from the Independent Petroleum Producers Group (IPPG) at the NNPC Towers in Abuja on Monday.
The high-level meeting, led by IPPG Chairman Abdulrazaq Isa of Waltersmith Petroman Oil Limited, focused on deepening collaboration between NNPC Ltd., indigenous operators, and international oil companies (IOCs). Discussions revolved around aligning efforts with the federal government’s national production mandate and laying a sustainable foundation for the future of Nigeria’s oil and gas industry.
Mr. Isa, speaking on behalf of IPPG’s 32-member body, emphasized the group’s commitment to sustainable industry growth and its readiness to support policies that ensure Nigeria meets its production targets while improving local participation and capacity building.
Responding, Engr. Ojulari reaffirmed NNPC Ltd.’s drive towards transparency and accountability, noting that the company is actively conducting a baseline survey that taps into the local expertise and operational insights of IPPG member companies. He highlighted that NNPC’s dedication to sustainable production is already being demonstrated through its newly released Monthly Report Summary for April 2025, which outlines progress in data-driven performance reporting.
Industry observers have hailed the development as a positive sign that public-private synergy is finally taking shape in Nigeria’s energy space—a crucial step if the nation hopes to attract more investment, meet OPEC targets, and drive long-term economic growth.
