The new Authority Chief Executive, Engr. Saidu Aliyu Mohammed on Wednesday held his first Town Hall Meeting with all staff of The Authority and outlined a strategic vision anchored on regulatory excellence and institutional performance.

Valuechain reports that while welcoming staff to 2026, the Authority Chief Executive emphasised NMDPRA’s critical role as a key enabler of energy provision for Nigeria’s industries, businesses, and households.

He expressed appreciation for the confidence reposed in him by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and acknowledged the contributions of the Authority’s pioneer leadership and workforce in laying strong foundations over the past four years.

On the area of service delivery, Engr. Mohammed said “The Management of the Authority will ensure collaboration, teamwork, corporate governance and discipline in the system where rewards and sanctions are applied appropriately to reform the productive culture of this institution.

“The year 2026 will be a year of hard work, but it will also be a year of visible impact. So let us get to work and create a ‘New Era of Regulatory Excellence,’ for the energy sector in Nigeria and the subregion,” he stressed.

Reaffirming the Authority’s mandates under the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA), Engr. Mohammed highlighted priorities including energy security, infrastructure development, expanded natural gas utilisation, healthy competition, consumer protection, and industry sustainability.

He disclosed that over the next five years, the Authority, under his leadership, will prioritise four strategic areas: positioning NMDPRA as a best-in-class regulator through automation and ISO certification, ensuring a secure and sustainable energy supply, expanding gas utilisation in line with Nigeria’s Decade of Gas and economic growth objectives as well as positioning Nigeria as Africa’s energy hub.
