The Transmission Company of Nigeria has carried out a clearance operation to remove structures encroaching on the Ihovbor–Ajaokuta 330kV transmission line in Ihovbor Community, Edo State.
In a statement issued in Abuja on Thursday, the company disclosed that the exercise was undertaken by its Benin Region to secure the transmission corridor and protect critical power infrastructure.
TCN said the operation was conducted between Wednesday, February 18 and Friday, February 20, 2026, as part of efforts to reclaim its right-of-way along the transmission route.
According to the statement, the company also implemented community sensitisation initiatives to educate residents about the dangers associated with encroaching on transmission lines.
It added that a three-month notice had earlier been issued to members of the host community, while compensation was provided to individuals affected by the exercise.
The statement further explained that the clearance operation was executed by a team from TCN’s Corporate Headquarters in Abuja.
TCN noted that the exercise was necessary to ensure the safety of lives and property, as well as to preserve vital electricity transmission infrastructure along the corridor.
