The ancient city of Kano was a cynosure of all eyes with the gathering of dignitaries and other well wishes from all walks of life. The occasion was the wedding fatiha of the son of the immediate past Secretary General of the African Petroleum Producers Organisation (APPO), Dr. Omar Farouk Ibrahim in person of Ahmad Rufa’i Farouk Ibrahim and his bride, Fatima Tayseer Muzammil Hanga, which took place today, Friday 3rd of April, 2026 at the Omar Bin Khattab Mosque, along Zaria road in Kano. Many distinguished personalities too numerous to mention, from across the country graced the wedding fatiha. A few among them was Prof. Abubakar Adamu Rasheed, MFR who is the 19th Vice Chancellor of the Bayero University, Kano and who, like the groom’s father, Dr. Omar Farouk Ibrahim, is also a former MD of the New Nigerian Newspapers Ltd. Senator Rufa’i Sani Hanga from the bride’s family was accompanied by various family members and well wishes. Other dignitaries include the Deputy Governor of the Central Bank, Alhaji Sani Abdullahi Dattijo, former Governor of Bauchi State, Alhaji Ahmed Adamu Mu’azu, His Highness the former Emir of Bichi, Alhaji Nasir Ado Bayero, OFR, Dr. Mansir M7khtar Adnan (Sarkin Ban Kano) and Makaman Bichi, Alhaji Isyaku Umar Tofa, among other dignitaries. It was an occasion that reunited former NNN staff members like Mallam Shareef Ahmed now of the BUK and Alhaji Musa Bashir Usman, FNIPR, FIMC now the Publisher/Editor-in-Chief of The Valuechain Magazine among several others guests.
