Dangote Sets Up New Oil and Gas Company in Cameroon

Aliko Dangote has established a new oil and gas company in Cameroon, appointing Bertrand Mbouck as CEO.

Will cover everything from fuel imports and distribution to refining and petrochemicals; a broader mandate than fuel storage and pipeline infrastructure that the group announced in July 2026.

The new company, incorporated on October 28, 2026, with initial capital of the mandatory $17,000 (or CFA10Million) is headquartered in Douala’s Bonanjo district and has a registered operations centre in the Kribi industrial zone.

A new fuel storage focused Cameroon company fits the Dangote Group’s pattern of investment in the infrastructure of supply of petroleum products around Africa.

In the third week of October 2026, Dangote announced the acquisition of a 25% stake (about 4.5 billion shares) in the state-linked Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC) for $327Million.

Down south, the group has picked Namibia as a gateway, with plans to ship refined petroleum products from its refinery in Lagos to the country before distributing them to neighbouring markets, including Botswana and South Africa.

In the horn of Africa, the group is developing a corridor from Djibouti to Addis Ababa, supported by tank farms for storing and distributing petroleum products to link the port of Djibouti, to landlocked Ethiopia.

Dangote Oil & Gas Cameroon SA’s corporate purpose includes the design, financing, construction, and operation of pipelines for crude oil, natural gas, and refined petroleum products, development and operation of storage depots, marine terminals, fuel imports, exports, storage, wholesale trade, and distribution and facilities for loading and unloading hydrocarbons. Other activities  permitted in the incorporation include include oil refining, petrochemicals, the sale of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), lubricants, and bitumen, as well as the operation of gas stations.

This scope goes well beyond the storage terminal project presented by Devakumar Edwin, Dangote Group’s vice president to the Prime Minister Joseph Dion Ngute in July 2026. It gives the company the legal basis to operate at several stages of the oil and gas supply chain, subject to the necessary regulatory approvals.
